This is the first post of a three part series, in which I will walk you through the three key stages of creating your own unique WordPress Theme. In this post I will be creating the design for the WordPress theme in Photoshop, next week I will be converting the PSD to HTML and in the third week making the site function in WordPress.

Choosing the right typeface for your design is an integral part of the design process, when choosing a font for your work, it is important that it helps represent your brand and your message that your are trying to convey.

Being part of the Dribbble community allows you get to see some great creative uses of typography, I took some of favorite works from Dribbble and paired them up with the font in use, I hope you discover some new fonts that you can download and add to your font collection, they may come in handy for your next design!

WordPress is a very flexible and diverse CMS, it is used by millions of bloggers around the world as a platform for their website. WordPress comes with a standard theme by default and there are many free themes that are available for download also. In many instances these themes are so widely used your blog will not be instantly recognized or be capable of developing a brand.

The beauty of WordPress is that you do not need to be a designer or developer to create your own unique WordPress theme, premium themes are available at a very reasonable price and you will often get theme support and regular theme updates included in the WordPress theme price.
