However, as the owner of a small business, you have some other concerns to pay attention to; you want to make sure your site speaks directly to the needs of people in the area. You have a unique angle to sell. For example, it’s possible that you don’t sell any products online; instead, you base all of your sales out of the shop.

Use Local SEO Keywords and Phrases
Since you own a small business, a decent portion of your profits comes from people who live in the community. For example, you don’t want to just advertise yourself as a auto repair shop. You also want to include the city and state in your keywords and phrases. In fact, you may decide to use the specific neighborhood to bring in even more local customers.

If you own an amusement park or a water park, make sure to incorporate the phrase “tourist attraction” into your content.

However, as a small business, you have a particular benefit to reap from a mobile friendly site. Many people who come to your company likely just looked it up on their phones. Whether they were taking a stroll through the park and got a craving for an ice cream run or were out running errands when they realized they needed to pick up some new makeup, being mobile friendly allows you to reach out to these consumers. Make sure that your business offers directions when it shows up in a search engine results list.

Encourage the Community to Participate
Having strong SEO helps your relationships with the community, and having strong search engine optimization strategies helps build your relationships with these individuals. Find ways to have people participate in this project. For example, while you are structuring your new website, you may provide consumers with surveys about what they would like to see on the site. You can also dig through reviews of your company online to find out what people are currently saying. Use that feedback to develop an even more suitable website.

When the website is up, think about inviting members from the community to participate in some degree. For example, content marketing is big and important right now, so you may ask experts to create content for your page. Asking a well-known writer in the town to put together blogs for the site or inviting students in the local college’s film program to make a brief video about your company shows that you care about the community. You may find that other people living in the area are eager to contribute to your website as well.

Developing an SEO strategy is extremely important in a world where the competition is so intense. However, you can’t just come up with any old search engine optimization plan. You need to make sure that it is logical for the purposes of your business and for the goals of a small business.
