Using pop-ups on a website is a common practice for getting people to sign up for newsletters or bring attention to certain campaigns or promotions, but on a mobile device, they can be difficult to close and might cause the individual to completely shut out of the site all together. While it is possible to format a pop-up so that it can be closed on a mobile device, it is best to avoid them all together.

There are a number of other add-ons and widgets that can be used to give the same effect as a pop-up without actually causing a problem for your mobile visitors. Discuss with your web developer the possible replacements you can use to maintain a better mobile experience.
